At Penland Builders, we strive to create a superior building experience. We pay particular attention to management segments as well as building phases. Before a project begins we thoroughly investigate the design. This preliminary step is to assure the customer of structure integrity as well as cost effectiveness. The design phase is where we want to help the client get the most for their money. After a design for the project is agreed upon, we take careful consideration in compiling a budget for each project. Once a budget has been created, we manage and evaluate it throughout the construction. Our goal is to hold to the financial estimate very rigid and strict, while still allowing the customer extended latitude for upgrades. We pride ourselves in efficiency without compromise. Throughout the building process we forecast and plan carefully so that we waste no time, or money. This prevents us from cutting corners or compromising quality. We achieve this with an experienced in-house crew. Our experienced in-house crew helps us to eliminate mistakes. Our experienced team is lead and directly managed by the owner and contractor himself, Robert Penland. Preventing mistakes and down time raises the level of quality and structural integrity. The sub-contractors that we use are folks that we have built a professional relationship with over time. These contractors understand our philosophy to building and see themselves as part of our team. This buy in from outside resources keeps the focus on the quality of the overall project. For many years Penland Builders has been an organization built on integrity and quality. Robert Penland the owner got his beginnings working as a lead man for another builder. Even then Robert sought out to do the job as efficient and as sound as possible. These traits and experiences have carried over into Robert’s own business, where he still sees the importance to be hands on in the field. Because of this business philosophy Penland Builders operates with an in house crew, trained by the owner and lead by the owner. Later Penland Builders added another element to its business strategy, a project manager. The addition of a project manager would then make Penland Builders more accessible to the customer. Having a person that has direct knowledge of the project as well as field experience gives the customer a direct resource for questions or trouble-shooting. The owner, Robert still operates in this capacity but in an indirect position. Though Robert sees the importance in being available to customers and building relationships, the project manager allows the customer a more direct and instant resource. This balance of management and customer service is why Penland Builders continues to produce satisfied and returning customers.
